MAKING OPPRESSION OBSOLETE

Design Boldly

This foundational learning experience immerses participants in the equityXdesign process, centering the voices of the marginalized—such as students—and fostering inclusive innovation. At the heart of this experience are weekly design challenges, crafted to keep participants focused and actively engaged in their anti-racism journey.

These challenges build the capacity to recognize and respond to racism and anti-Blackness while introducing key principles of designing for equity, fostering transformative empathy, and iterating on equitable design solutions. Participants will leave with actionable strategies and tools to dismantle oppressive systems and lead anti-racist community practices.’

SHARE POWER, DESIGN A NEW FUTURE

Dream Expansively

Everyone has power, yet there is often a disconnect between who we are, who we aspire to be, and how we act. We will focus on bridging this gap in the Cede Power design challenges. Participants will examine how oppressive systems—such as white supremacy, heteronormativity, and patriarchy—shape their relationships, leadership practices, and personal behaviors. Through small, actionable steps, this experience empowers participants to shift direction and cultivate more equitable practices.

A key feature of this learning experience is bi-weekly design challenges, which offer a structured format for engaging deeply with these principles and applying them to real-world contexts. These challenges help you develop a shared language to navigate and address issues of race, equity, innovation, and design while reframing equity challenges with a focus on actionable solutions.

DESIGN FOR REFLECTION AND REPAIR

Build Inclusively

Relationships are often shaped by unseen assumptions that reinforce exclusion and bias. Uncovering these dynamics creates opportunities to reflect, repair, and rebuild with equity at the center. This learning experience focuses on cultivating spaces for reflection and repair through weekly design challenges and exploring the equityXdesign principles: Design at the Margins, Start with Self, and Make the Invisible Visible.

Participants will dive into tools and strategies for assessing how classrooms, schools, and organizations advance equity, using data and metrics to measure meaningful change. Through structured design challenges, they will test and refine equitable innovations on a small scale, learning to anchor these practices deeply and scale them effectively across their systems.

By the end of this experience, participants will be equipped to design spaces where equity thrives—crafting new relationships and practices that transform leadership and organizational structures.

What Our Clients Have to Say

I enjoyed the collection of videos and sources, especially as they brought historical context into the conversation. I also really enjoyed reading through the Activity Feed in order to be able to learn how others processed the information and shared their takeaways from the lessons.

It pushed me to think in new ways about (in)equity, racism, my own privilege, and how these things all affect my work.

I am really impressed with the level of intentionality with which the course was designed. I found myself reading through a lesson and then thinking about it for days, weeks, months. While I may have finished the course, I feel I've only begun to do the work and that I could redo the course multiple times and still find new things to take away each time.
